“America’s kindest husband” is now accused of killing his wife

A man once dubbed ‘America’s kindest husband’ for making a 15-point list of reasons he loved his wife is now suspected of murdering her after being jailed for life for a shocking murder of to a teenager, according to the slain woman’s family and loved ones.

Timothy Murphy-Johnson, 40, went viral for writing love messages on his bedroom mirror for his wife Molly to see before he died in 2017 from what initially was suspected to be a drug overdose during a fall.

But Murphy-Johnson was jailed for life last month for drugging and holding a 16-year-old girl captive – and Molly’s family believe there are uncanny similarities to her death. The Times of London reported.

Timothy Murphy-Johnson, once called “America’s kindest husband”, is now suspected of murdering his wife after he was jailed for life for the shocking murder of a teenager, according to the slain woman’s family.

Murphy-Johnson, a British-born computer game designer, met Molly on online dating site OK Cupid in 2012 – but her friends and family quickly became skeptical of their relationship after her death .

Before she died, Molly allegedly revealed to friends that her husband raped her and forced her into prostitution as part of an abusive and manipulative marriage, they say.

He allegedly threatened to kill his wife with an overdose and frame it as a suicide, Molly also alleged in a court filing obtained by the agency.

“Threatened to kill me (and make it look like suicide)… physically assaulted me by kicking me in the back/stomach, punching me in the head/arms, pushing me down and stealing my purse, the money and the phone to prevent me from escaping.” read doc.

Molly ended up withdrawing the request.

“I think Tim either offered her drugs or forced her to take them,” Molly’s childhood friend Anna-Marie Anderson said. “She was brilliant, extremely educated about medicine and drugs, and in my opinion, it wouldn’t turn out like that.”

Molly’s loved ones believe Murphy-Johnson manipulated her because she had gone from graduating with a degree in mass communications at San Jose State University and enrolling in a master’s degree to dropping out of school and moving to San Francisco for her husband’s job.

The doting dad said his daughter twice asked him to “save her” from her husband, despite her apparent devotion to him.

“Molly was a bright, beautiful and talented young woman,” her father, Bob Gelman, told the UK Times.

The couple moved to Los Angeles when Murphy-Johnson got another job, but Molly disappeared when she checked herself into a mental hospital in an attempt to escape her husband.

Before her death, Molly allegedly revealed to friends that her husband raped her and forced her into prostitution as part of an abusive and manipulative marriage, her family and loved ones say. imgur

Molly was forced to quit her job when she could no longer cover her cuts and bruises.

“Unfortunately, Tim was able to get her to come back to him,” Gelman said. “He told me he was pimping her – getting her to have sex with other men for money.”

Friends investigating Murphy-Johnson’s abuse found she appeared in sexually explicit images on several adult content sites and was promoted as an “escort,” “naughty nerd” and “college-educated Mensa member ”, the society for people with high IQ.

Molly photographed her bruises and told her friends she wanted a divorce, but was threatened by her husband.

“He (Murphy-Johnson) has just offered me a drug that will kill me so I can get away already…I think I’ll make it easier for both of us,” she wrote to a friend.

Molly was found dead in her bedroom on December 16, 2017, with her death ruled an overdose.

Murphy-Johnson announced his wife’s death in a Facebook post.

“My wife, my best friend, the most amazingly beautiful and troubled soul I have ever known died of mental illness on Saturday morning after being discharged from a failed mental health service -a.”

One of Molly’s ex-boyfriends claimed to her father that Murphy-Johnson tried to cremate her immediately but “insisted on an autopsy.”

The report did not receive a response from Murphy-Johnson or his attorneys.

However, one of his family members has dismissed allegations that he may be involved in his wife’s death as “baseless”.

“Molly had a serious addiction to the drug fentanyl, as well as depression and a history of suicide attempts. Tim saved her life several times… so I don’t think he killed her,” the unidentified relative told the British newspaper.

“To be honest, they both thought the other was trying to kill them. It was chaos. It was a sad, toxic, messy relationship, two people with deadly drug addictions and mental illness for a terrible relationship,” the relative said.

“He loved her very much and her death is what drove him into madness. I can’t apologize for anything Tim did. I think he suffers from serious mental health problems,” said the relative.

“Of course, if there is any evidence to support a claim (that Murphy-Johnson was involved in Molly’s death), then obviously it should be sent to the authorities.”
