The latest prediction is not promising for the Chicago Cubs Power Hitter Target

The Chicago Cubs the list is not where it should be. From a pure talent standpoint, especially on the offensive side of the baseball, the Cubs need to improve.

They could take a few different approaches this winter. If Chicago wants to compete in the near future, they need to find proven bats. However, if they believe some of their youngsters could emerge and make an impact for them in the future, they may not spend as much as some hope.

Around baseball, there aren’t many teams in a better position than the Cubs to improve. They have trade prospects and money to spend. However, if the front office is unwilling to move any of these prospects, then problems could come into play.

However, they still have money to spend on free agents and more veteran batters will be available to sign on the open market.

These include Eugenio Suarez. Suarez is an interesting name for several reasons. On the one hand, the right-handed hitter has struggled in points throughout his career.

However, when he’s at the top of his game, he can switch it up at an elite level. That includes the 2024 campaign, when he posted a 116 OPS+ and hit 30 home runs. He has hit at least 30 home runs in three of the last four years, something Chicago could use in the middle of their lineup.

The question surrounding Suarez is how much his free agency contract could be. He also has a team option with Arizona Diamondbackswhich leads to more worries about his possible landing.

This situation could very well also play out as Jim Bowden by The Athletic predicted the Diamondbacks to exercise his option.

“The Diamondbacks acquired Eugenio Suárez from Seattle last year in hopes of improving their power. Suárez certainly delivered 30 home runs and 100 RBI. 82nd percentile in range (above-average strikeouts Diamondbacks hold a $15 million 2025 option ($2 million recovery) that they likely will pick up).

There are some elite strikers on the market, so Suarez might not be considered a player that teams would want to spend money on.

However, if he were to become a free agent, a team looking to overhaul their lineup could use him. The Cubs fit that description perfectly, so it would make sense to at least check him out.
