Laurel PD investigates theft at Read Drugs

LAUREL, Miss. (WDAM) – The Laurel Police Department is looking for a suspect after an early morning burglary.

It happened at Read Drugs on Mississippi Highway 15.

This is the same drug store that was hit in February when several narcotics were stolen.

The department said officers responded to Read Drugs at approximately 4 a.m

We’re told they found a white Ford F-150 truck crashed into the storefront.

The male suspect ran from officers and ran.

It was later discovered that the truck had been stolen earlier that morning.

“We don’t know if any drugs were taken from the facility,” said Capt. Michael Reaves.

“Obviously the pharmacist and staff will need to do a full audit, but anyone who has information about anyone trying to sell prescription drugs in their community – that would be information that could be vital to us in this investigation.”

The department is still gathering video evidence to try to identify the suspect.
