Holmberg ordered to go to jail while awaiting sentencing

BISMARCK, ND (KFYR) – A U.S. District Judge is ordering former state Sen. Ray Holmberg to voluntarily surrender to U.S. Marshals by Friday.

Earlier this month, US attorneys asked Judge Daniel Hovland to revoke Holmberg’s release because he was accessing the Internet and traveling without authorization.

Holmberg’s lawyers argue that his age and medical conditions should keep him out of prison before sentencing. Hovland agreed with the government, saying that because Holmberg didn’t keep his end of the bargain, he should be held pending sentencing.
