Dr. Ajoy Kumar questions Raghubar’s efforts for property rights in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur East Congress candidate Dr Ajoy Kumar has raised critical questions about former Chief Minister Raghubar Das’ commitment to ensure property rights for the people of Jamshedpur.

Speaking to the media on Saturday, Dr Ajoy pointed out that despite holding the Jamshedpur East MP seat for 25 years and eventually becoming the Chief Minister, Raghubar Das failed to fulfill his long-standing promise of grant property rights to residents.

According to Dr. Ajoy, Raghubar Das misled the public by using the promise of property rights as a political tool without taking meaningful steps to address the issue. “Raghubar Das, who came to power with the support of the people, prioritized his own political interests over the welfare of the people of Jamshedpur,” he said, adding that displacement due to “encroachment” became common during Das’ tenure, undermining rights. and the security of local communities.

Dr Ajoy further accused Das of working in favor of corporate interests, especially Tata, rather than as a true representative of the people. He questioned the former chief minister’s motives, pointing to a controversial decision to grant sub-lease rights rather than full ownership. “If the intention was to grant sub-lease rights, why were certain colonies taken off the lease?” he asked.

The Congress candidate also criticized a decision by the Das administration that limited leasehold rights to 10 decimals of land, calling it the “biggest hurdle to ownership”. He argued that this measure has kept genuine ownership out of the reach of many residents, leaving them without lasting security over their properties.

Dr. Ajoy pointed out that the property problem extends beyond Jamshedpur, affecting the entire state. He promised to form a dedicated commission to look into property rights if elected, assuring the people of Jamshedpur and Jharkhand that with public support, he would work for a lasting solution to this pressing issue.
