Rahway rolls past Montgomery – Football recap

Rahway cruised to a 28-3 win over Montgomery behind a strong offensive performance led by running back Jaquan Robinson and running back Andrew Avent. Robinson threw for 187 yards and three touchdowns, while Avent rushed for 136 yards and a score.

Rahway got on the board first with a 9-yard field goal by Anthony Lopez in the first quarter. Avent extended the lead to 9-0 with a 5-yard touchdown run later in the period.

Montgomery got the only points of the game on an 8-yard run by Trey McFadden in the second quarter. But Rahway answered right back when Robinson connected with Synceir Touissant for a 12-yard touchdown pass to make it 16-3 at halftime.

In the second half, Robinson threw two more touchdown passes — a 41-yarder to Ziare Fields in the third quarter and a 10-yarder to Jalen Eastman in the fourth — to put the game out of reach.

Fields finished with three catches for 85 yards and a touchdown to lead Rahway’s receiving corps. Touissant added three receptions for 55 yards and a score.

Defensively, Eamonn Kyler led Montgomery with 15 total tackles. Alessandro Spera had an interception for the Cougars.
