The DEA is hosting its second National Prescription Drug Take Back Day this year

COLORADO — Opioid addiction and prescription drug abuse continue to plague communities across the U.S.

As a solution to a growing problem, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) implemented National Take Back Day, dedicated to removing unnecessary prescription drugs from households before they can cause harm.

Collection sites in El Paso County opens at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 26 and will close at 2:00 p.m.

On April 27 of this year, the DEA collected 670,136 pounds of drugs nationwide at 4,869 collection sites, with 10,017 pounds collected throughout Colorado.
