(Town of Kill Devil Hills)

The Kill Devil Hills Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a person in connection with an ongoing fraud and theft investigation in which a local elderly person lost nearly his entire pension fund. Based on the investigation, we have reason to believe that this suspect may reside in the Virginia (Richmond or Hampton Roads) or New York City areas.

If you recognize the woman in the attached images or have any information, please contact the Kill Devil Hills Police Department at 252-449-5337 to speak with Detective Sudduth. Individuals who wish to remain anonymous and possibly receive a cash reward for their information are encouraged to contact the Dare Community Crimeline with any information at 252-473-3111 or 800-745-2746.

Local police remind you to be cautious if you receive suspicious pop-ups on your computer, in addition to links in emails and online. Do not provide your personal information to any person or entity that you do not completely trust. Be vigilant, no legitimate business will force you to pay using gift cards, gold bars, Bitcoin transfers or other means outside of normal business practices.

Please be diligent and contact law enforcement if anything seems unusual and definitely before transacting with anyone who requests these payment methods or seems suspicious. Finally, we encourage businesses to be curious if someone is trying to purchase a number and/or a significant amount of gift cards, especially if they seem nervous or are being told to do so over the phone. Always contact law enforcement if you have any questions.
