NEW YORK – New York has become a critical state in presidential and congressional races for the 2024 electionespecially with voting proposals on the horizon. Early voting for New York residents begins in person on Saturday, which is also the deadline to register to vote.

Here’s everything you need to know about when, where and how to vote in New York.

When does early voting start in NY?

Early voting in New York begins on October 26 and ends on November 3, two days before general elections.

Here are the dates and times for early voting in New York:

October 26: 08:00 – 17:00

October 27: 08:00 – 17:00

October 28: 08:00 – 20:00

October 29: 08:00 – 20:00

October 30: 08:00 – 20:00

October 31: 08:00 – 20:00

November 1: from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m

November 2: from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m

November 3: from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m

Residents must vote at their assigned polling place.

New York registered voters do not need to show ID to vote, unless they did not provide ID with their registration.

First-time voters must provide identification either on or with their voter registration application. If you haven’t provided your ID by Election Day, you can vote by affidavit ballot, but not by using the polling site scanner.

Acceptable ID includes entering one of the following on the voter registration application:

Driving license number.
Driver identification number.
The last four digits of your social security number.
