Supporters of rapper Young Thug plan to protest outside the Fulton County Courthouse on Friday to demand an end to the longest trial in Georgia history.

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. – Supporters of Atlanta rapper Young Thug gathered at the Fulton County Courthouse to call for an end to this situation. YSL RICO trial that lasted almost a year.

The trial has been postponed until Monday, while the judge is weighing the possibility of a mistrial and defense attorneys are negotiating possible plea deals.

It was reported on many social media accounts that the defense lawyers met. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and Assistant District Attorney Adriane Love met Thursday morning to discuss potential plea deals. FOX 5 has not independently confirmed this information, but one of the defense attorneys told FOX 5 that something significant will happen on Monday.

Organizers of the protest say they are concerned about what they call “prosecution abuse” in the high-profile case.

“My message is: At what point do we say this is unfair? At what point does the justice system say we got it wrong? We either have to rethink what we did and get a mistrial, or we have to dismiss the case – and when I said that, Promoter Ten Wilkerson said, ‘I don’t mean try again, try the case again.’ .

The group says their protest is not about supporting Young Thug, but rather “upholding the principles of fairness and justice that underpin the legal system.”

The judge presiding over the YSL RICO case is considering declaring a mistrial after a misstep by the prosecutor in court Wednesday. The final motion for mistrial was made after a witness named Slimelife Shawty read aloud a headline containing the FREE QUA testimony.

The trial has been plagued by delays and interruptions for months; including illnesses, the arrest of a juror and an attorney, the stabbing of one of the defendants in prison, and the dismissal of the judge originally assigned to the case.

The latest incident occurred on Wednesday, when rapper Slimelife Shawty, one of the original 28 defendants, took the stand. The prosecutor asked him to review social media posts to identify other people involved in the case. While doing so, the witness read aloud the headline “FREE QUA,” which revealed information the jury was not supposed to know about which defendants were incarcerated.

Nicole Westmoreland, one of Quamarvation Nichols’ attorneys, immediately expressed concern.

“Now the jury has heard over and over again that Mr. Nichols is in prison, and we can’t ring that bell, so we’re going to request a mistrial,” Westmoreland said.

Judge Whitaker acknowledged the seriousness of the situation but said he would not allow a trial with prejudice, meaning the case could not be retried. However, he stated that he would consider granting the right to an unbiased trial.

There are currently five people on trial alongside Jeffery Williams, aka Young Thug. It will be up to each defendant to decide whether to accept a plea agreement from the state. Some of the defendants face more serious charges, including murder, than others.

The Young Thug and YSL RICO case is the longest criminal case in Georgia history.
