Michael McIntyre reveals how he wooed his wife even though she ‘didn’t like him’. Celebrity News | Show and television

Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel returns this weekend.

The popular BBC show features the comedian hosting the Saturday night game show, where contestants face a giant wheel and answer questions for a chance to win cash prizes.

A much-loved comedian, Michael began his career in stand-up and has since become one of the UK’s most recognizable comedy stars.

Outside of his professional career, the 48-year-old has been married to his wife Kitty since 2003, and the couple share two children together.

The star once opened up about her partner on The Jonathan Ross Show while appearing in the studio in 2022. Reflecting on their first meeting, she shared that they were introduced by a mutual friend before he introduced her to his film project.

He confessed: “It’s been a long time. We met through a friend. I haven’t liked it in a while. I wanted to get into comedy somehow, so I started writing a movie, a romantic comedy.

“The plot was basically me writing what I wanted to happen in my life because I was single and had very little action, I wasn’t very good with girls.”

He fondly shared that the main character’s experience of “winning the girl in the end” in his film mirrored his own story of how he met his wife.

He went on to say, “I sat down and wrote how I wanted my life to go and I had this main character and his name was Marty instead of Michael — basically, he gets the girl in the end and it’s a sweet story.

“At the same time, my wife was doing something similar and she started acting. I pretended to be a screenwriter and she pretends to be an actress. My sister met her through a friend and said, “I’ve met the girl in your movie.”

“We had this hilarious meeting where I pretended to be a cool writer and she pretended to be an actress and we’ve been married for 20 years.”

The comedian previously revealed he knew after one date that his wife was “the one” during an appearance on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs.

He remembered: We might have kissed on our first date. That was it for me. I announced to everyone that I’m in love and I’m going to marry this girl.”
