Luxury apartments in Gurugram priced at Rs 75 crores are taking social media by surprise

The smallest unit spans an impressive 9,500 square feet.

A recent social media post by a self-described “recovering founder” on X (formerly known as Twitter) has sparked widespread disbelief among social media users regarding the exorbitant prices of luxury apartments in Gurugram. Abhinav Kukreja shared pictures of DLF’s latest high-end project, showcasing extravagant amenities like a private theatre, games room, ice bathing area and spa facilities.

What shocked people the most was the starting price of Rs 75 crore for the smallest apartment in the development. Kukreja emphasized the impact value by commenting, “I can’t believe they cooked this in Gurugram,” while revealing the luxury features of the project. The starting price of these apartments has drawn comparisons to property costs in iconic global locations, with many looking for Burj Khalifa apartment prices for context.

According to Kukreja, the smaller unit spans an impressive 9,500 sq ft and is expected to sell for around Rs 80,000 per sq ft. He added, “This means there is now a building in Gurgaon where the cheapest house costs ~Rs 75 million ($9 million).”

In response to the staggering price tag, many users flocked to X to express their disbelief and consider alternatives. One user joked: “You can get a front view in Italy for the same price with much better facilities.” Another commented, “Rs 75 crores for a Gurugram apartment or an apartment of the same size in the world’s tallest and most elegant building, Burj Khalifa, where apartments start at Rs 6 crores for 1 BHK. Difficult choice…”.

Other comments echoed similar sentiments, with one person stating, “For $1.2 million, you could get an apartment in Manhattan near Times Square,” while another opined, “For that price, I think can i buy a house in los angeles. real estate in our country has become so high but people’s income has remained the same, middle class wouldn’t even dream of owning a 2BHK house” .

“Our real estate is out of control. Something has to change. Pound for pound, it’s cheaper to buy housing abroad than in India. This makes no sense, given that less than 30 years ago, Indian housing was affordable,” said one individual.

The collective backlash highlights growing concern over rising property prices in India, particularly in urban areas like Gurugram, where high costs are increasingly out of reach for the average citizen.
