Aged 83, arrested for allegedly trying to solicit sexual favors from children

PLATTSBURGH, Mo. (KCTV) – An 83-year-old Missouri man is behind bars after child pornography found on his phone led law enforcement to discover he tried to solicit sexual favors from children.

Clinton County, Missouri, Circuit Court Records revealed that on Friday, Oct. 25, Terryl L. Anderson, 83, of Cameron, was charged with possession of child pornography and enticing a child.

The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office said that around 9 a.m. on Oct. 14, an individual arrived to report finding nude images of children on Anderson’s phone, as well as text messages with a 6-year-old child and their 16-year-old caregiver years.

Investigators indicated that a recording of the messages showed Anderson trying to arrange a sexual interaction with a child he believed to be 6 years old. A search warrant was then executed at Anderson’s home during which his laptop, phone and other electronic devices were seized.

While law enforcement searched Anderson’s home, he admitted to a deputy that he had texted several underage girls and even discussed possible visits with them. He was arrested and taken into custody.

Investigators noted that several messages were found on Anderson’s phone that contained attempts to meet with the children for sexual interactions. An extraction of his other electronic data remains ongoing.

As of Saturday, Anderson remains behind bars on a $75,000 bond. The hearing was set for Monday, October 28 at 9 am. No other information has been released.
