Downgraded Ja Morant’s injury status for Grizzlies-Magic

Downgraded Ja Morant’s injury status for Grizzlies-Magic

The Memphis Grizzlies and Orlando Magic face off Saturday night at FedExForum. The Magic are off to a 2-0 start to the season, while Memphis is 1-1 through two games.

Injuries have been a major story for the Grizzlies over the past year, and especially with star guard Ja Morant. Missing all but nine games last season, Morant was suspended for the first 25 games and then suffered a season-ending shoulder injury shortly after returning.

Morant suffered a minor ankle injury in the preseason that cost him time, but he was able to return for the regular season opener.

In an injury report announced Saturday by the Grizzlies, it was revealed that Morant is listed as questionable with right hamstring soreness.

This is a relegated status for Morant as he was not only unavailable the last game, but he wasn’t even on the injury report.

This hamstring soreness is a new injury designation for Morant. While this is concerning for many Grizzlies fans, it is good news that he is not dealing with another ankle problem.

The Grizzlies are trying to get back into the Western Conference playoff picture after missing the postseason entirely last season. A healthy Morant is the biggest key to this.

The Grizzlies will be careful with Morant and others after all the injury problems they had last season.
