If a close contest between two SEC schools wasn’t enough entertainment, an on-field invasion by an unlikely creature just added to the atmosphere.

During a game between the University of Oklahoma and the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss), a squirrel was seen running onto the field in the first quarter.

The squirrel headed into the end zone at Vaught-Hemmingway Stadium in Oxford, Mississippi – leading to wild cheers from the crowd.

It’s unclear where the squirrel ran after that, when it appeared to dive into a tunnel at an unknown location.

It was a tough game for the 18th ranked Ole Miss Rebels as they battled an Oklahoma Sooners team that entered the game with a 4-3 record.

After struggling to get going on offense, the Rebels finally found their feet and built a lead going into the final quarter.

But proceedings were briefly halted when an Ole Miss team doctor collapsed on the sideline.

Cameras panned to the stands as medical personnel rushed to help the employee. He was eventually seen walking with help down the tunnel to a waiting ambulance, which took him to hospital.

Ole Miss went on to win the game 26-14 to improve to 6-2 on the season. Quarterback Jaxson Dart finished 22 of 30 passing for 311 yards and a touchdown in the win.
