Levi Davis’ heartache as police REFUSE to launch new appeal on second anniversary of X Factor rugby star’s disappearance

THE devastated family of Levi Davis will suffer further heartbreak as Spanish police refuse to launch a new appeal in the missing star’s case.

The 24-year-old X-Factor star mysteriously disappeared without a trace from Barcelona almost two years ago on October 29, 2022.

On the eve of the second anniversary of her disappearance, police admitted they have “no new leads”.

Police said they did not plan to use the anniversary date of the Briton’s disappearance to make a public appeal for information because they had “nothing new to offer”.

And court officials confirmed that their investigation remained suspended and would only be reopened if new information came to light.

The Mossos d’Esquadra, to which Levi’s disappearance was reported, said: “Our investigation remains open but we have nothing new to tell you.

“There are no plans for a public appeal for information to coincide with the second anniversary of Levi’s disappearance.”

Levi’s disappearance after he was last seen in The Old Irish pub sparked a massive search in Barcelona, but without success.

The singer was seen walking along the Ramblas before his trail went cold.

A port search and another in the Delta del Llobregat area last May gave no clue.

Police said four cruise ship staff saw a person in the water, shouting for help in English, wearing a light-colored T-shirt similar to the one Levi was seen wearing at 6.30am on October 30 , eight hours after he was last seen on CCTV.

A life preserver was thrown to him but a subsequent search by police and coastguards turned up nothing.

A well-placed police source added: “No one is actively working on this case from a police point of view or in the courts on a day-to-day basis.

Timeline of Levi’s disappearance

Levi was on a break in Ibiza when he told his friend Richard Squire that he was going to travel to Barcelona to meet some friends.

October 29, 2022: Levi is seen leaving The Old Irish Pub on La Rambla in Barcelona, alone with a backpack on his back.

Subsequent sightings place him at the Hard Rock Cafe.

October 30: At 6:30 a.m., hours after Levi was last seen, cruise ship staff spot someone in the water as the ship docks.

The person wears a light-colored shirt like Levi’s and asks for help in English.

A life preserver is launched, but a Coast Guard search turns up nothing.

November 6: Levi was reported missing a week after his disappearance, by his friend Squire.

November 19: Levi’s passport is located in the Barcelona port area near a cargo shipment.

February 5, 2023: Her chilling video of her claiming she’s being blackmailed comes out.

February 28: Three weeks after Levi’s video went public, Spanish police said he may not have disappeared voluntarily.

March 3: Police say they are investigating whether he may have drowned after entering the harbor area.

May 18: The cops start a new search for Levi in two different places

October 27: Officials confirm the judicial investigation into Levi has been halted.

“That doesn’t mean the police won’t investigate any new information that comes to them.

“But the last big push was 17 months ago with the port searches.”

Another insider said: “The main theory is that Levi drowned, but proving that now is pretty much mission impossible.”

The inquest into the missing Worthing Raiders winger was halted last October, a year after he disappeared.

A spokesman for the city court magistrate investigating the disappearance said: “There are no updates on this case. It is still provisionally closed.”

Earlier this year, Levi’s family hoped a new documentary about his disappearance would shed some light on the mystery.

A representative of the family has told The Sun that a production company has approached Julie to turn her son’s disappearance into a documentary.

They explained that while Levi’s family is desperate for answers, they want to wait for the right project.

“We are waiting for the opportunity that offers the best opportunity to find out what happened,” they said.

Levi was taking a break in Europe after being sidelined from rugby following a knee injury when he went missing.

She was in sunny Ibiza with her close friend Richard Squire when she told him she was going to see friends in Barcelona, but disappeared just hours after arriving on the peninsula.

The rugby star had taken a boat from Ibiza with just £35 in his pocket and no change of clothes.

Just hours before he disappeared, Levi had sent his mother a strange video from the deck of the ferry.

“Hey mom… it’s beautiful,” Levi said.

The star’s disappearance sparked multiple theories – from drowning to “voluntarily” disappearing amid a £100,000 debt to a Somali gang.

Levi’s friend Chantelle Small told The Sun his disappearance “doesn’t make sense” but she is still hoping he will be found alive.

She told The Sun: “I kept logging into his Instagram and it kept showing ‘activated yesterday’ or ‘activated today’.

“I suggested to his family that they find out who has access to it as well because it gives you false hope.”

In addition to the theory that Levi tragically drowned, detectives have kept other lines of inquiry open as they previously say there are “disturbing” elements to the case.

Levi’s mother Julie previously said the investigation into her son’s disappearance had been “slow”.

Spanish police added to the confusion by initially claiming that Levi had “not disappeared voluntarily” before telling Julie that her son had probably drowned after going down to the port area.

Last year, The Sun tried to retrace the steps of the star in Ibiza where he stayed with friend Richard before traveling to Barcelona by ferry to “meet some mates”.

Levi played Premiership rugby union for Bath between 2017 and 2020, when he joined Ealing Trailfinders. A year later he signed for Worthing Raiders.

He appeared on X-Factor in 2019 as part of the group Try Star with fellow rugby players Ben Foden and Thom Evans.

At the height of his rugby career with Bath, Levi signed a record deal and began playing small gigs and recording music.
