Second man charged with second-degree murder in Kingsway stabbing

A second man has been charged with second-degree murder in the stabbing death of a 34-year-old man in Edmonton’s Kingsway neighborhood.

On On May 15, around 1:39 a.m., city police officers were called to the area of ​​102nd Street and Kingsway Avenue after a report of an injured man on the sidewalk. Emergency paramedics treated the man and transported him to hospital, where he later died.

Police identified the victim as 34-year-old Clinton Quintal. An autopsy determined he died of multiple stab wounds and his death was ruled a homicide.

Three days later, police identified Irvin Badarm, 31, as a suspect who was also wanted for a robbery at the Kingsway transit station about an hour before the attack and charged him with robbery and first-degree murder two. Police said Quintal and Badarm did not know each other.

At the time, police believed multiple suspects were involved in the attack and robbery.

On Thursday, Adam Chinery, 35, was arrested by police and charged with second-degree murder, police said in a Friday news release.

Investigators determined that Chinery did not take part in the robbery. Police said they are not looking for other suspects.
