Nirvana Nokwe-Mseleku reveals boundary violation on set

South African actress Nirvana Nokwe-Mseleku, known for her roles in outlaws i red inkhas opened up about a troubling experience on set, sparking important conversations about consent and personal boundaries in the entertainment industry.

In an Instagram post, Nirvana revealed that while working on a recent project, their boundaries were violated during the filming of a scene where their character was portrayed as the victim of murder and rape.

“I am writing to share an experience I had during a recent project on set, which involved a violation of my personal boundaries in a scene where the character I was playing was being murdered and raped,” she wrote.

His revelation coincides with ongoing discussions about consent on social media, recently intensified by a controversial story about Skeem Sam.

The incident took place during a night of filming where professionalism and respect were expected. “Rape could be involved in a close-up; he rehearsed that he would push me over the hood of the car, he would lie on his back to whisper in my ear, then he would go out of frame, which was a close-up of my face screaming, and the scene would be over there.” explained Nirvana.

“I had asked to be taken to therapy after my role was over,” he added. “My physical and psychological limits were not a simulation of the act of rape.”

Looking for a solution, he asked for two things: therapy and a written apology. The agreement was later modified for therapy and a mediation meeting. However, Nirvana described the response as hostile, accusing those involved of gaslighting and intimidation, which ultimately led to no action being taken.
