Bengaluru school’s 1.5 lakh fees for daycare sparks controversy, parents’ reaction goes viral

A school’s fee structure for the Nursery and KG batch 2024-25 has sparked outrage on social media over its ‘parent guidance charges’, which are a one-time fee for students in Kindergarten and nursery school Besides the admission fee of Rs 55,600 for Kindergarten and KG, the school also levies over Rs 30,000 as ‘caution money’.

Dr. Jagdish Chaturvedi, an ENT surgeon and comedian, posted a photo of the school’s fee structure on X (formerly Twitter). The post included the caption, “Parental guidance fee of INR 8400! No parent will agree to pay even 20% of this for a doctor’s consultation…”

He also humorously commented, “I’m planning to open a school now.”

The image provides a detailed breakdown of Kindergarten and Junior KG fees for the academic year 2024-25. In addition to typical charges like admission fees, caution money, annual fees, registration fees and development charges, the school includes a one-time parent orientation fee of Rs 8,400.

Further, the image specifies that the total amount payable at the time of admission is Rs 1,51,656 excluding the orientation fee payable at the time of enrolment.

In April this year, a Delhi man revealed that he had paid a whopping Rs 4.3 lakh for his son’s nursery school fees. Akash Kumar shared his experience on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “My son’s Playschool fee is more than my entire educational expenditure. I hope he learns to play well here.”

Kumar also included a screenshot of the fee structure, which detailed Rs 10,000 as registration fees, four term fees of Rs 98,750 each and an additional recurring annual fee of Rs 25,000.
