Hungama, India’s leading digital entertainment platform, launches its latest original Hindi series this Diwali, Checkmate, an engrossing crime thriller drama that promises to enthrall audiences with its intense narrative and thrills in the edge of your seat With a stellar cast that includes Nyra Banerjee alongside Shaleen Malhotra, Rohit Khandelwal, Rahul Jagtap and Afreen Alvi, the show offers a perfect blend of psychological tension, emotional depth and jaw-dropping plot twists.

Checkmate follows the story of a mild-mannered housewife, played by Nyra Banerjee, who is once rescued from a human trafficking ring by a morally ambiguous police officer, whom she eventually marries. Trapped in a life of submission and silence, her world is shattered when she discovers her husband’s deadly plot to murder her. In a frantic act of self-defense, she kills him, only to return home to find her life turned upside down. A man she doesn’t recognize claims to be her husband, and her journey to discover the truth becomes a dangerous game of survival.

This role allowed me to overcome my own boundaries and show a completely different side of myself that is intense, raw and emotionally powerful.
