Emma Raducanu clears the air about Hong Kong’s withdrawal after the latest move raised concerns

Emma Raducanu took to social media to shed light on her withdrawal from the Hong Kong Open, as the 21-year-old confirmed that her recovery from a foot injury is on track, but that she is not she is ready to play again next week.

On Tuesday, it was reported that the former world number 10 would not return next week. And the news came as a surprise, considering that just over the weekend the Brit posted a video message confirming her appearance in Hong Kong.

This led some to speculate whether Raducanu aggravated his injury or suffered another setback. However, there is no need to worry as the 2021 US Open champion is progressing well and should be able to represent Great Britain at the Billie Jean King Cup between November 13-20.

“Hi, I’m sorry to say that I won’t be able to play in Hong Kong next week. Although my foot is progressing well, I need a little more time before I’m fit. I hope I can come. back and play this tournament in the future. In the meantime, I’m doing what I can to be ready for the BJKC,” the British tennis star wrote to X.

Raducanu stayed pretty healthy until the Asian swing

After playing just two tournaments over the summer on hard courts, the 21-year-old said she had the Asian swing circled on her calendar and planned to play a full schedule. But then, in his first tournament in Seoul, he injured his foot ligaments and ended up missing Beijing, Wuhan, Ningbo, Guangzhou and now Hong Kong.

Last year, Raducanu underwent surgery on both wrists and an ankle. When he returned to action in early 2024, he made no secret that one of his main goals was to stay healthy this year. While the latest setback is disappointing, it’s nothing too serious and he should be back in action next month.
