Company Fires VP With Impressive Record, Hires Replacement; The Internet reacts

A former VP of an unnamed company opened up about his harrowing experience on Reddit, explaining the shock and frustration of being fired despite a strong performance record. After 1.5 years at the company, during which they had received no negative feedback, received a substantial raise, and received a 25 percent bonus earlier this year, they were abruptly informed that their position was being eliminated as part of cost-cutting measures.

“Last Wednesday, the CEO and COO called me into their office and pretty much told me that I wasn’t staff, that they were trying to cut costs, and that my position was being eliminated. They gave me 10 weeks of severance and also they will pay for COBRA for 10 weeks,” the former vice president wrote in his social media post.

The real sting came when they later discovered that the company had already hired someone else for the same position.

“Today, I went on LinkedIn and saw that they hired another person with my exact title and my heart dropped,” they shared. The Redditor highlighted their reliability and good performance, noting that they had never received any negative feedback during their time with the company.

“I was let go last Wednesday. I have been working at this company for 1.5 years as a vice president and have not received any negative feedback. During my review in March, I got a very good raise and an additional bonus of 25 per hundred,” he wrote.

He added, “I never missed a single deadline, I was reliable, I did what was asked of me. I didn’t take all my PTO, I would work weekends, and I was always available at any time. I never received any negative feedback I didn’t even have to sit down to talk. I was doing the work of 3 people. I feel angry and just frustrated with the whole situation. They couldn’t even tell me the truth to my face I was expecting to get calls because they’re paying me compensation. What a joke.”

Several netizens came forward to share their opinions. A Reddit user wrote: “My ex coworker had the same thing, worked his back after the pandemic, was replaced on a whim but with good compensation. After 2 weeks they send him a letter of “10 page excel to fill in all the missing contacts, process info, everything I could think of. He never responded to the email.”

“I work for a big name fashion retailer and they let our previous stylist director go even though she was a top performer just because I guess the VP liked the new director she replaced on a personal level. LOL politics and who knows, a very dirty dirtbag move I guess, which is why I don’t attend work events or go above and beyond and also take all my PTO when I want because these people are dirtbags and will never appreciate work. you put,” another user added.
