Punjab Police to expand public outreach through ‘Sehyog’ programme: DGP Yadav

Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said in the second phase, instructions have been issued to CPs/SSPs to visit villages and slums to hold public meetings.

To further expand Punjab Police’s ‘Sehyog’ public awareness program at the grassroots level, Commissioners of Police (CP) and Superintendents of Police (SSP) will visit villages and mohallas to hold public meetings, gathering direct feedback from to the locals. , Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said.

This initiative aims to bridge the gap between the police and the public, Yadav added during his visit to the police lines in Jalandhar.

Yadav said that in the second phase, instructions have been issued to the PC/SSP to visit villages and slums to hold public meetings.

“This approach will help the authorities to understand the ground situations and foster a stronger relationship between the police and the public,” the DGP added.

The move comes amid ongoing tours by DGP Punjab to improve community ties and gather feedback from people about their experiences with the police. The DGP was addressing a district-level public meeting organized by the Jalandhar Police Station as part of the ‘Sehyog – A Police-Public Partnership Initiative’ programme.

DGP Yadav, during an informal interaction with people from different walks of life, took direct feedback from them on the law and order situation in the city. He assured to solve most of their problems. The DGP was accompanied by Jalandhar Commissioner of Police (CP) Swapan Sharma.
