Green Bay man sentenced to six months for stealing slot machines from Bellevue Hotel

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – A 41-year-old Green Bay man was sentenced to six months in prison after pleading guilty to breaking into slot machines at a Brown County hotel.

Wisconsin Circuit Court records show Jacob Reese was sentenced Aug. 20 and will also serve three years of probation after his release.

Reese stole thousands of dollars from slot machines at a Bellevue hotel. Hotel staff reported that the gambling machines in the lobby had been broken into, resulting in the theft of cash. Surveillance footage captured three separate incidents in which a total of $14,025 was stolen.

In addition to the stolen money, an estimated $500 worth of damage was done to the machines. A Green Bay police officer later identified Reese as one of the suspects in the image.

Reese was arrested on October 31, 2023 and admitted to authorities that he committed the robberies, claiming that he did not keep any of the stolen money.

According to the criminal complaint, Reese said he opened the machine during the first incident, while in the second robbery, he encountered a “large” lock and had to open the machine to access the cash.

When asked about his actions, Reese referred to himself as “Robin Hood”. stating that he gives money to people in his circle. He claimed to have only taken $300 to $400 during each robbery.

Reese pleaded guilty to charges in four separate cases, with additional charges dismissed but read into the sentencing.
