T3’s eufyCam S3 Pro review in one sentence: Great resolution and ease of use make this outdoor security camera combo a hit.

When it comes to home security, the eufy brand has been around long enough to know it can be trusted and has been a regular in our security camera guide. Adding to the appeal of the new eufyCam S3 Pro twin camera combination is the resolution, which is a real strength of this brand. After all, there seems little point in setting up security cameras if the resulting footage isn’t going to be of much use.

This security camera package is effectively an all-in-one package, meaning it includes everything you need to get set up and running. The headliner here is really the footage quality, which is 4K and the cameras can capture both day and night footage. The other plus for me is that the setup is quick and easy to install and configure, plus there’s no monthly subscription required to save any recorded footage.

eufyCam S3 Pro review: price and availability

The eufyCam S3 Pro 2-Cam Kit is available now from Amazon for £499 or can be purchased directly from the eufy website. There’s also the ability to add another camera to increase your surveillance coverage, with a single camera priced at £229 from Amazon. A variation of the same type of kit is available from Amazon in the US for $389.99.

The eufyCam S3 Pro 2-Cam Kit is an all-in-one home security camera package consisting of two 4K UHD monitoring units together with a HomeBase base station. The package includes all the necessary cables to connect in addition, there are also mounting brackets inside the box, which allow for quick and easy installation of the cameras and also their adjustment. Although there is a mains adapter, the kit is also solar powered. This is done using power from the built-in solar panels or an additional panel that comes as part of the package.

This eufyCam S3 Pro 2-Cam bundle revolves around the homeBase S380 hub which forms the other art of the bundle apart from the cameras. Connectivity is via an Ethernet cable, with a power cable and an adapter that must also be connected to the mains. Once the unit has been connected and configured via a home Wi-Fi network, it can be set up for use. There are mounting brackets that allow the cameras to be fixed in position and these can be tilted for optimal video capture.

While it is possible to buy a security camera package for peanuts, this is the crowded market they sit in, eufy is a slightly more premium brand. As a result, everything seems to be well made when I took the components out of the sturdy box they came in. Like everyone else these days, eufy touts that this model is powered by AI, offers MaxColor Vision technology while delivering 4K images. of the two camera units. They are also equipped with F1.0 aperture lenses and 1/1.8-inch CMOS sensors.

MaxColor technology is designed to help cameras shoot after dark, which is an area that many surveillance cameras tend to struggle with. There is adaptive focus in this package, which is activated by motion and allows users to extract more quality from frames where needed. Another benefit of the eufyCam S3 Pro is its ability to run on solar power, with only one hour of sunlight needed per day to keep it running. Meanwhile, the 1,3000 mAh rechargeable battery can offer up to 365 days of autonomy.

Paying a bit more should also mean that the eufyCam S3 Pro is quite a bit more responsive. In fact, eufy believes that this model can reduce false alerts by up to 99%. Audio is also well represented with this package, with a dual microphone setup adding a speaker and 105dB siren alerts for added overall effectiveness. Add 16TB of expandable storage, which can be used without incurring monthly fees, plus the ability to adjust settings and alerts via the accompanying app, and it’s a powerful package.

eufyCam S3 Pro Review: Performance

Mentioning artificial intelligence in product information can often seem like a token gesture to try to seem relevant. However, I was impressed with how well the eufyCam S3 Pro setup worked with the help of this companion. The main draw is the 4K video quality, but I also love the way I can use the 8x zoom functionality to get right into specific areas of my footage. This also works equally well day or night, so it’s a definite benefit of the eufyCam S3 Pro specification, which is further bolstered by intelligent AI assistance that also improves footage.

In fact, the eufyCam S3 Pro is really a versatile piece of kit, perhaps one of the best I’ve tried. There is certainly flexibility, with the ability to focus on certain areas up to an impressive forty feet. The viewing angle is also impressive, up to 120 degrees, which means that with both cameras in place I have an excellent view of the area I’m monitoring. The 16GB of local storage is great, plus it also works with Amazon Alexa and Apple Home.

I’ve tried a few home security camera packages over the years and the eufyCam S3 Pro seems to be one of the best I can buy right now. Of course, there is a significant cost and even more if I want more cameras, but it does everything expected of it to a high standard. The footage is excellent, the usability is simple and effective, while the biggest draw for me has to be the lack of need for monthly subscriptions. That’s one less sub to worry about, so that’s a thumbs up for this home security solution.

eufyCam S3 Pro review: alternatives to consider

This is a very lively product category, so there is a lot of choice, especially from eufy itself. The Eufy S220 SoloCam will work outdoors, offers local storage so you don’t need a subscription, and can even be powered by the built-in solar panel on top. It’s not that new, though.

Another camera worthy of your consideration is the EZVIZ H3C 2K. Video and audio are more than adequate on this camera, and it comes with just about every feature you’ll be looking for, but what really gets you is how much you’re paying for it.
