Liam Payne ‘erratic’ after girlfriend Kate Cassidy leaves Argentina

Liam Payne started acting randomly in the days leading up to his tragic death.

Payne’s “erratic behaviour” began to escalate after his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, returned home to Florida on October 14, just two days before the former One Direction member fell from a balcony hotel in Argentina, a source close to the influencer told People Tuesday. .

“As you could see in the Snapchat videos, he was a different person around her,” the insider shared, referring to Payne’s posts about her “lovely day” in Buenos Aires before her death .

Photos and videos on social media showed Payne and Cassidy chatting, posing for selfies together and enjoying their South American vacation.

The source also told the mag that Cassidy, 25, had “been very supportive” and “stood by” Payne’s side amid his “legal drama” with ex-girlfriend Maya Henry.

The insider referred to Henry, 23, who issued a cease and desist to Payne — just days before the singer’s death on Oct. 16 — after she claimed he would repeatedly contact her and their relatives

Reps for Payne and Cassidy did not return Page Six’s requests for comment.

The “Strip That Down” crooner and the model began dating in late 2022, and he was often by her side until her death. They traveled to Buenos Aires to attend former bandmate Niall Horan’s concert on October 2 and stayed for two weeks.

However, Cassidy explained in a TikTok video shared two days before Payne’s death that she decided to leave the country while he stayed.

She did not give an explanation as to why at the time, but one of her friends told The Post that Payne “begged” her to stay with him and they had a “heated” exchange because she wanted to go home.

“I was really upset about it,” the friend said. “He made sure she knew.”

Cassidy is “devastated” and “has not stopped crying” since hearing the news of Payne’s death, according to her friend.

“She’s not alone,” they added. “He is sensitive to me and our other friends. We will all help him in any way we can.”

Cassidy opened up about the unexpected loss on her Instagram story last Friday.

“Thank you for all the kind words and love sent my way. I’ve been completely lost,” she wrote at the time. “Nothing in the past few days has felt real. I ask and pray that you give me the grace and space to navigate this privately.

“Liam, my angel. You are everything. I want you to know that I loved you unconditionally and completely. I will continue to love you for the rest of my life. I love you Liam,” she added before concluding her message with the angel number 444.

Several of Payne’s family and friends, including all of One Direction, have issued statements of grief for the late pop star.

Payne died after falling from the balcony of his room on the third floor of the CasaSur Palermo hotel in Buenos Aires. He was 31 years old.

The “Teardrops” singer died of multiple traumas that resulted in internal and external bleeding, the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office confirmed to Page Six.

Officials have not disclosed whether the fall was intentional or accidental and have not yet released the full results of his autopsy. However, Page Six previously confirmed that alcohol and drugs were found in Payne’s hotel room.

Sources told ABC News on Monday that the entertainer had substances including cocaine and crack in his system at the time of his death. Preliminary tests also found benzodiazepine, which is a depressant, and “pink cocaine,” a recreational drug that commonly combines methamphetamine, ketamine and MDMA.

Payne had previously admitted to struggling with addiction and mental health issues, and a source exclusively told Page Six last week that she had “gone through periods of disruptive behavior” in the last few years of her life.
