Third time’s a charm to catch a suspected thief: Bainbridge Township police blotter

CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio —

Burglary, Market Place Drive:

A 43-year-old Chagrin Falls man is charged with three counts of theft after he was caught with an unpaid $250.98 Lego R2D2 set Sept. 26 at Target. He paid for the snacks and drinks in the shopping cart, but not the Lego set. While in custody, he said he had to go to his car to get his wallet and ID. Instead of returning to the store, he drove home, leaving behind the merchandise he paid for. Police investigated and found surveillance footage showing he took but did not pay for another Lego set valued at $109.99 on September 14 and two drinks valued at $4.78 on September 25. On September 30, the police located him at his home and charged him. with the three robberies.

Burglary, Market Place Drive:

A 41-year-old Bainbridge Township woman is accused of placing items in her purse and failing to scan other items at the self-checkout counter at 7 p.m. Sept. 25 while you shop at Target. The value of the items is $225.99.

Burglary, Market Place Drive:

Police responded to a call at 7 p.m. Oct. 3 at Target to find a suspect loading merchandise into his car. He showed the officer his purchase receipt, which did not include a $579.99 electric scooter and 62 other items valued at $1,300.31 that he had hidden in reusable shopping bags that he is also accused of stealing . Video footage shows the woman entering the store empty-handed and leaving with bags and merchandise. The 51-year-old Twinsburg woman paid for some items at the self-checkout and told a store employee that she had already purchased the other merchandise. Police charged her with felony theft and transported her to the Geauga County Jail.

Injury accident, Chillicothe Road:

A 17-year-old Auburn Township girl suffered a nosebleed after she crashed her car into a car stopped for a left turn at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 5 on Bainbrook Drive. Bainbridge Township EMS treated her at the scene and released her to her mother. The other driver, a 46-year-old Aurora woman, did not report any injuries. Police cited the girl for failing to keep a clear distance from other vehicles.
