The Battle of Germantown and more rivalries in the sights and sounds of high school football

It’s Week 8 of high school football and playoff positions are on the line.

7News on Your Sidelines brings you all the action from featured games, including the Battle of Germantown, Maryland between Quince Orchard vs. Northwest and Oakton vs. Westfield in Chantilly, Virginia.

Battle of Germantown

The quince orchard is only separated by northwest by four miles. Last year, Northwest ended Quince Orchard’s 39-game winning streak in a memorable second-round playoff game. Quince Orchard quarterback Friday in the Cougar Dome Juh-Rel Brown found a wide open Diego Rodriguez, who went in for the touchdown for the Cougars. Quince Orchard kept the ball on the ground for a good portion of the first quarter with the Maryland commit running back Iverson Howard breaking tackles. The final score went the Cougars’ way as they topped Northwest, 24-17, to remain undefeated and improve to 8-0.

Other scores

In Montgomery County, Paint Branch traveled to Silver Spring and handled Montgomery Blair, 41-7. Independence managed to reach the Stone Bridge, 14-10. Westfield was all over Oakton, 42-6, and West Potomac held on to beat Alexandria City, 21-13.
