Liam Payne toxicology report: multiple drugs in system

Liam Payne had several recreational drugs in his system at the time of his tragic death last week, a toxicology report has revealed.

According to a report from ABC News, the late One Direction singer had substances in his system including “pink cocaine,” a cocktail of drugs that typically includes ketamine, MDMA, methamphetamine and more, as well as cocaine, benzodiazepine and crack cocaine. A makeshift aluminum pipe for taking drugs was also found in his hotel room.

Minutes before Payne fell to his death from a balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Wednesday (October 16), a hotel manager made an emergency call concerned about an “aggressive man who might be under the influence of drugs and alcohol.” Believing that Payne’s life was in danger, the manager added: “When he’s conscious, he’s destroying the whole room and we need you to send someone over.”

A preliminary autopsy report by the Argentine Prosecutor’s Office has found that Payne died of “multiple trauma” and “internal and external bleeding” as a result of his fall from the third floor of the building.

In the wake of his death, TMZ was widely criticized for publishing a cropped photo of Payne’s body, which was later removed from the site without explanation.

Numerous celebrities have spoken out about the failure of the music industry for the young artist, who was 31 years old at the time of his death. In particular, Bruce Springsteen said the business puts “huge pressures on young people”, with Sharon Osbourne, Robbie Williams and Payne’s partner. X factor contestants Katie Waissel and Rebecca Ferguson raised similar concerns.
