Matt LaFleur slams reporters for comparing Jordan Love to Brett Favre

Matt LaFleur sees your Jordan Love-Brett Favre comparisons, and Matt LaFleur hates them.

It’s not exactly a new phenomenon. The Green Bay Packers are one of the few franchises in the NFL where every franchise quarterback will always be compared to the guy before him, whether it’s Love, Favre or Aaron Rodgers.

All in all, life is pretty good when you have a franchise guy for three straight decades, but one of the downsides is that every now and then you have moments like Sunday, where LaFleur made his point about familiar comparisons clear.

Shortly after the Packers’ two-point win over the Houston Texans on Sunday, LaFleur was at the end of his postgame press conference, literally answering the final question of the afternoon, when someone asked how Love looks like favre

Both were known for their…fearless…decision making, and Love’s relative lack of ball security is a stark contrast compared to Rodgers. It also doesn’t help that Love literally sported Favre’s jersey before their game against the Minnesota Vikings a few weeks ago. Since then, he has thrown 13 touchdown passes with seven interceptions.

Against the Texans, Love completed 24 of 33 passes for 220 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions.

“Hopefully, we can put him in better situations so he’s not throwing picks.” LaFleur said. “So everybody who can talk heads can make the Brett Favre comparisons easier.”

Admittedly, “snaps” are probably a little too much. You can definitely see LaFleur’s face show some annoyance as the reporter continues with a question that’s 20 seconds longer than it needed to be. In his defense, I’d also be pissed if I was one question away from enjoying a well-deserved win on Monday, only to have to discuss comparisons between my current starting quarterback and a guy who played in Green Bay decades before me appeared

As one of the talking heads LaFleur talks about, I think it’s my responsibility to do my part and compare the two until I can put Love in better situations where he’s not throwing spikes; it’s the least I can do.

Frankly, from a *football* point of view, there could be worse comparisons. But Love makes the Packers win almost as much as Favre, so you get the point. And frankly, the fact that this is making the headlines after the Packers beat one of the best teams in football speaks to how good things are in Green Bay right now.
