Fresh from spearheading Penrith’s fourth consecutive premiership, Nathan Cleary has enjoyed a trip to Europe to spend time with girlfriend Mary Fowler.

Cleary appears set to hold off on surgery on his troublesome shoulder injury until he returns to Australia, with the half-back having flown to the UK a week ago.

During this time, he has been very busy catching up with girlfriend Fowler, who helped Manchester City to a 2-1 win over Aston Villa at the Joie Stadium on Sunday.

The Australian sporting power couple have been enjoying some time together, they were pictured a week ago at Old Trafford watching the Super League Grand Final between Wigan and Hull Kingston Rovers.

Fowler also shared a snap of Cleary on his Instagram in recent days, with the Penrith star looking through a camera that still had its lens cover on.

“Nice photo girls,” Fowler captioned the image.

Fowler has had a busy few weeks with Man City, with the Matildas star heading to Vienna last week for City’s Women’s Champions League win against St Polten.

The 21-year-old has been seriously impressive for City and has two goals in all competitions so far this season.

And today, Cleary appeared in the stands at the Joie Stadium to cheer on his girlfriend.

The Panthers star shared a picture on his Instagram story which appeared to show Fowler playing for Man City.

City would show their resilience to come back from a goal down, with second-half goals from Lauren Hemp and Jill Roord helping to keep Gareth Taylor’s side three points clear of rivals Manchester United. at the top of the WSL.

Cleary, meanwhile, has recently poured cold water on rumors that have linked him with a move away from the Panthers. Some reports had claimed she might move to Europe to be closer to her partner, Fowler.

But the NRL star, whose contract at the Panthers runs out in 2027, insisted he had no plans to walk away from the club anytime soon.

It comes after former Rugby Australia president Hamish McLennan claimed the Wallabies should try to poach Cleary from the Panthers, offering him a huge sum of money.

Joseph Suaalii recently made the call to swap codes and McLennan believes Rugby Australia should do the same with Cleary.

“Joseph (Suaalii) has already generated massive interest in rugby union and has paid for himself time and time again,” McLennan told SMH.

“He’s a world rugby superstar before he’s even donned a Wallaby jumper, and he’ll be a wonderful role model for young aspiring players.

“The Wallabies’ underperformance for decades means they need investment at the top level to generate value in sponsorship, media rights and crowds. We haven’t won a World Cup since 1999, and a Bledisloe Cup in 23 years, so no more evidence is needed that the system needs an overhaul and that it is centralized.

McLennan wants the NRL recruitment drive to continue and is urging rugby to open the checkbook for Panthers playmaker Nathan Cleary.

“I’d like to have a crack at the likes of Nathan Cleary and a few others,” he said.

“The game needs five more Josephs as the ’27 World Cup (to be played in Australia) is just around the corner and the clock is ticking… Thank God for Joseph because that’s what everyone is talking about .

“Australia are number 10 in the world (rankings) and need an injection of talent or there will be nothing to sell.”
