The report left out the fact that the state reversed its decision, saying the mentor was innocent. “I did nothing but pour my heart out to Brockton,” Sampson said Tuesday, Oct. 1, when reached by phone. “It (the report and news coverage) really hurt my feelings.”

Football’s ‘Saint’: Remembering Iconic High School Coach Ron St. george

Ron St. George brought the curtain down on a tremendous high school football head coaching career in the spring of 2021, ending a 41-year career that saw him lead two different programs to a combined seven EMass Super Bowls. St. George, who died Friday, Oct. 11 at age 76 after a brief battle with cancer, coached 26 seasons at East Bridgewater beginning in 1980. He spent three seasons (2005-07) at BC High and then recorded 13. seasons at Cardinal Spellman. When he stepped down in 2021, his 275 career wins (against 140 losses) ranked ninth all-time among high school football coaches in the state, according to the Boston Herald.

Brockton police sergeant promoted to lieutenant despite recent accident suspension

Veteran Brockton police Sgt. Stanley David was made a lieutenant Tuesday despite a recent reprimand from his boss for an off-duty accident. Police Chief Brenda Perez suspended David for three days without pay after he caused havoc one night at the Belmont Street entrance to Brockton High. Several internal affairs reports recommended no discipline, but the chief overruled them.

Bridgewater Police Chief Accused of Gender Discrimination by Veteran Officer

A Bridgewater police sergeant is suing the city of Bridgewater and the police chief who she says denied her a promotion because of her gender, according to court documents recently obtained by The Enterprise. Sergeant Kelly Chuilli, a combat veteran who joined the Bridgewater Police Department in 2000, filed a lawsuit against Police Chief Christopher D. Delmonte in July, alleging that he engaged in discrimination against gender by refusing to promote female officers to high-ranking positions. Delmonte told the Enterprise that this is the first gender discrimination complaint she has filed against him in his 15 years as chief.
