When Sengoku reveals who Ace’s real father is, Garp remembers how he came to care for Ace. When Roger was arrested, he told Garp that he was going to have a child and asked him to take care of him. Rouge, Ace’s mother, carried Ace in her womb for 20 months in order to deceive the Government about his parentage. Rouge died after giving birth to Ace, after which Garp took baby Ace to the village of Foosha to be raised by a woman named Dadan. As Ace’s execution nears Marineford, Whitebeard and a giant fleet of his pirate allies finally show up.
