Report reveals Garrett Wilson’s status with Jets amid Davante Adams arrival

Opportunists seem to be circling the New York Jets right now after their big trade.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Saturday that several NFL teams have checked with the Jets about the status of star wide receiver Garrett Wilson. Schefter notes, however, that the Jets, while they have heard from teams interested, have no plans to trade the 24-year-old Wilson.

Wilson was the Jets’ No. 10 pick in 2022 and has had back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons to start his career. But Wilson has been toppled on the totem pole in New York amid the arrival of Davante Adams in a blockbuster trade with the Las Vegas Raiders. Adams is a six-time NFL Pro Bowler with a lot of familiarity with Jets star Aaron Rodgers (his former quarterback in Green Bay), so he’s expected to take over as the NFL’s new No. 1 receiver. team

It can’t hurt for opposing teams to inquire about Wilson, especially those who would be willing to pay a significant new contract for him (Wilson’s rookie deal only runs through the 2025 season). But for now, it looks like those teams will have more success trying to land this Jets wide receiver.
