Princess Beatrice’s plan to boost York’s social media presence | Royal | news

Princess Beatrice is considering launching an official social media account after pressure from the royal family to increase her online presence.

According to a well-placed source, Beatrice, 36, is being encouraged by her family to help raise the profile of the Yorks amid a wave of controversy in recent years.

The source added that because Beatrice is considered a “senior royal”, the family is keen for her to follow in the footsteps of her sister Eugenie and mother Sarah Ferguson, who have official social media accounts.

“Beatrice has a private Instagram account but is a bit reluctant to launch an official one,” the source said. “Eugenie and Sarah have official social media accounts and it’s something that Beatrice has been asked about many times.

“Although Bea has been a bit apprehensive in the past, there are tentative plans to launch an official Instagram account to accompany the birth of her second child.”

Princess Eugenie currently has a successful public Instagram account with over 1.8 million followers.

Eugenie, 34, often posts about her hobbies, her charitable efforts and her family.

Sarah Ferguson also has a public Instagram account with almost 740,000 followers and recently launched a new TikTok account. The Duchess of York also regularly posts about her family, charity work and work projects.

The source added that as negative attention continues to focus on the girls’ father, Prince Andrew, over Royal Lodge and the Epstein saga, the move could be a welcome boost for the beleaguered family.

“Beatrice is being encouraged to showcase her charitable endeavors which will shine a better light on the York family as a whole,” the source said. “They’ve also told her it might be good to show a bit more of her family because she’s been pretty closed off until recently.”

Buckingham Palace announced earlier this month that Princess Beatrice is expecting her second child with husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

A statement released by Buckingham Palace said: “Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce that they are expecting their second child together in early spring – a brother to eight-year-old Wolfie and Sienna, three years old. His Majesty the King has been informed and both families are delighted with the news.”
