Netflix releases coming next week

Netflix’s lineup of new releases coming to the streamer next week includes a new drama set in the Australian desert that reminds me of Taylor Sheridan’s influence. Yellowstone has been and continues to be. So much so that not only do the major streamers seem to have gone for their own version of the neo-western hit, but even the show’s streaming house, Paramount+, has released spin-offs to keep fans satisfied : include the existing ones. series 1883 i 1923in addition to upcoming series 1944 i The Madison.

Whether or not Netflix intended this to be their new drama Territory from creators Timothy Lee and Ben Davies will inevitably draw comparisons to the Kevin Costner-directed hit. Not that that’s a bad thing. In fact, Territory not exactly long enough to avoid comparisons.

Take note: Netflix’s new six-episode series is built around a family dynasty, succession drama and a struggle for control of an expanding cattle station. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say that Lee and Davies are obviously fans of the Dutton family story, and have even included a John Dutton-like character in the form of the ranch owner Colin Lawson played. by Robert Taylor (Wyoming’s law enforcement officer a longmire).

I previewed Territory in a previous post (here), and here’s what Netflix says you need to know about the series. “When Marianne Station is left without a clear successor,” explains Netflix about the cattle station at the heart of the show, “generational clashes threaten to tear the Lawson family apart.

Sensing that this ancient dynasty is in decline, the outback’s most powerful factions—rival cattle barons, desert gangsters, indigenous elders, and billionaire miners—move in for the kill. With billions of dollars at stake, everyone wants a piece of the pie.”

Daniel Lawson is the heir to the family’s cattle empire, but after he dies, Colin is forced to find a new successor. Her daughter-in-law is an option, but Lawson considers her a gold digger, while her husband, Colin’s last surviving son, is an alcoholic. Meanwhile, the vultures, including a dangerous cattle baron and a scheming billionaire, are circling. In other words, this Netflix series will immerse viewers in a part of Australia they’re not used to seeing on TV and in movies. More than the blue water, children and lively promenade of a place like Bondi Beach, it will all unfold on the wild and untamed frontier of the land.

what else to see

Meanwhile, there’s also plenty more hitting the streamer next week, that is, if a family drama set in the Australian Outback doesn’t necessarily sound like your thing. For a comprehensive look at all the titles arriving next week, our monthly Netflix guide is the perfect resource to check out.

This list includes a variety of other original releases and third-party titles coming to the service in the coming days, including new docuseries (The Comeback: 2004 Boston Red Soxi The rise of Simone Biles Part 2), as well as a new season of the well-known Korean drama bound to hell. As for what will have the widest interest, though, I’m convinced it’s Netflix Yellowstone– com Territory easily fits that bill.
