The difference is you: Get out and vote | News, Sports, Jobs

Voters here in Pennsylvania have an important decision to make at the polls today. Don’t let your voice go unheard as the Keystone State has become the focus of the 2024 presidential election.

Consider: Both Donald Trump and Kamala Harris were in Pittsburgh Monday night for rallies, and Harris followed up with an event late Monday in Philadelphia. Both campaigns have been courting voters here for the past month.

This much is clear: Pennsylvania will be the difference in this election. Most experts agree that whichever candidate wins the state, wins the election. That means getting out and voting is imperative. Don’t let your voice go unheard. This has happened far too often in the past.

During the 2022 general election, only around 60% of Commonwealth voters cast a ballot. And in the 2020 general election, statewide turnout in Pennsylvania was nearly 71 percent — the highest turnout since 1960. A total of 6.9 million ballots were cast from those 9.8 million registered voters. That’s good, but it also means that nearly 3 million Pennsylvania residents did not vote in the 2020 election!

We have to do better.

We would advocate that every eligible voter get out and do their civic duty and vote. It’s really that simple. If you’re a registered voter and haven’t already, vote. Today.

Polls are open between 7:00 AM and 8:00 PM. Don’t forget to take your ID.

Those of you who read the news every day and follow what’s going on both locally and statewide and mutter to yourselves “someone should do something about this” today is your chance.

Voting is the only guarantee we have that our voice will be part of the decision-making process.

It starts with you. Vote.
