A Chimanimani village chief is in trouble for abusing his position in the community and dating married women.

Herbert Musyandaka is facing possible removal from office after being accused of having an illicit relationship with a married woman. This scandal is the second time Musyandaka has been embroiled in an adultery controversy, casting a shadow over his role as a traditional leader.

Manica Post reported that Musyandaka, who heads the village of Musyandaka, was last Sunday taken to the Cape Saurombe Community Court by Peter Mashava, who accused him of having an affair with his wife, Esther Mlambo. A clearly distraught Mashava revealed that he had to leave his home due to growing threats linked to Musyandaka.

I have been receiving threatening messages from an unknown number since I raised this issue. I believe these threats are coming from Musyandaka because the villagers have been telling me for some time that he is getting close to my wife.

Mashava had sent his wife to her parents after learning of the alleged affair, but Musyandaka forced him to allow her to return.

She argued that I had no choice but to stay with her, even though I couldn’t stand her wayward behavior anymore,Mashava stated.

After Mlambo’s return, Mashava left her home. Rumors of the affair intensified, with villagers claiming that they often saw Musyandaka at Mashava’s house with his wife.

When I went to register my home with the village chief, he refused and told me that the house now belongs to my wife,Mashava added.

Mashava also alleged that after taking the matter to court, the threatening messages increased.

The texts warned that they would kill me if I continued to pursue this with the court,“, he said.

Chief Saurombe expressed concern over Musyandaka’s conduct.

It is not the first time that Musyandaka has been involved in such a scandal. His leadership is now under scrutiny because no one still trusts him as a leader,“, he said.

The hearing was adjourned to October 20 after Musyandaka and Mlambo failed to appear in court.
