Former Scotland rugby captain Stuart Hogg pleads guilty to domestic abuse of estranged wife

SELKIRK, Scotland (AP) — Former Scotland rugby captain Stuart Hogg has pleaded guilty to a charge of abusing his estranged wife.

Hogg, 32, appeared at Selkirk Sheriff Court on Monday and admitted he was accused of shouting and swearing at his wife “in an aggressive manner” as well as tracking her movements and sending her text messages which “were alarming and distressing.” in kind.”

Britain’s PA news agency reported that Hogg was arrested in February after police were called to Hogg’s “shouting and swearing” and was then placed on bail which stipulated he could not contact his wife or could enter the family home.

Hogg, who plays for French club Montpellier, is in the process of divorcing.

Sentencing was scheduled for December 5. ___
