The deputy APD commander was placed on administrative leave following the DWI unit’s investigation

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – A deputy commander with the Albuquerque Police Department was placed on administrative leave Thursday night as part of the DWI cheating scandal and investigation.

Gustavo Gomez has been part of the APD since 2008. He is currently the Deputy Commander of the Internal Affairs Division.

Gómez is the tenth agent to be placed on administrative leave in connection with the investigation. Seven of those officers have resigned, one retired and another was fired.
