The creator of Jujutsu Kaisen reveals the real reason behind the breakup of his manga

Jujutsu Kaisen The manga has come to an end, releasing its final chapter last month that gave Yuji Itadori and those who survived the fight against Sukuna the best ending they could hope for. Fortunately, the anime adaptation still has a great future ahead of it and could guarantee several seasons and/or movies that will follow its source material. Releasing new chapters for years, creator Gege Akutami worked hard on creating this supernatural shonen series and ran into problems that have become a little too common for manga artists. In a recent release, Akutami’s past hiatus was explained.

Jujutsu Kaisen the manga was more than a hit, it was a runaway success for Shonen Jump, quickly climbing the manga publishing ranks in record time. First arriving in 2018, the anime adaptation arrived two years later thanks to Studio MAPPA and became one of the biggest TV series in the medium. last year, Jujutsu Kaisen The second season ended up telling the story of the Shibuya Incident Arc, a story that was more than willing to take some great heroes and villains off the board. With the third season set to focus on the arc known as the Culling Game, things are only heating up for Yuji and the survivors of Shibuya.

The Jujutsu Kaisen The pause has been explained

In the final arc, Yuji Itadori faced his “darker half” when Sukuna decided to jump out of his previous body and instead chose Megumi Fushiguro as his new vehicle. After the publication of chapter 262, creator Gege Akutami put the manga on hiatus for three weeks. During this time and beyond, manga readers were unaware of the true reasoning behind why the fight needed such a long break as Jujutsu Kaisen near its conclusion.

According to volume 28 of Jujutsu Kaisen manga, Gege was hospitalized in June this year for appendectomy surgery. Despite the surgery, Akutami showed that they were committed to closing the story of Jujutsu Tech. Now that Yuji Itadori and Jujutsu Tech have finished their story, Gege has more than earned his retirement from the popular shonen series.

Jujutsu Kaisen Anime Future Breakdown

The third season of Jujutsu Kaisen He still hasn’t confirmed when we can expect it to arrive, but to think it’ll be in 2025 might be a pipe dream at this point. The MAPPA studio has a lot on its plate between Jujutsu Kaisen, Heaven from Hell, Chainsaw Manand more, meaning the return of Jujutsu Tech could still be some time away. If we continue to follow the source material, it could mean we get two more seasons of anime and potentially a movie to wrap up the story.

As for a sequel, Gege Akutami has not confirmed that they plan to return to the Jujutsu Tech universe. Jujutsu Kaisen The ending is pretty definitive for all the characters involved, even with quite a few survivors. Fortunately, Akutami hasn’t completely closed the book on creating new stories, as the artist’s farewell messages did ask fans to look forward to his future works in the manga game. What those stories might be is anyone’s guess, though Gege seems to have more ideas for stories that will leave Yuji Itadori and friends on adventures that readers never get to experience.
