Stranger Things creators want to avoid Game of Thrones comparisons to the finale

when game of thrones completed in 2019, the ending was so controversial that it has become the prototypical example of how no to end a very successful show. And now, how strange things enters the final stages of its fifth and final season on Netflix, publisher Dean Zimmerman reveals that creators Matt and Ross Duffer had game of throneserrors in mind when creating the end of the program.

The last season of strange things already feels better situated than game of thrones’. One of the biggest criticisms thrones it was that its last few seasons picked up the pace too much, which could perhaps be stopped because the creators ran out of original material to adapt; author George RR Martin is still working on the future game of thrones books to this day. But strange things it technically has no source material, and Matt and Ross Duffer have been given the freedom to write an ending on their own terms; it’s an ending they’ve been working towards and gradually perfecting since the beginning.

talking with Screen Rant About the last season, editor Dean Zimmerman revealed that the production is bigger than ever. “strange things it’s in full swing, it’s bigger than anyone will ever imagine,” he said. “Every season I’m on this show, I don’t think it can get any bigger, and it’s not just proven wrong. It always amazes me how incredibly brilliant the Duffer brothers are (at) finding new and crazier ways to do it.”

Naturally, the team is feeling the pressure to deliver a satisfying finish. Or to put it another way: they are avoiding a game of thrones-reception in style at all costs.

“Their whole mission is to stick the landing in this final season where, controversially, a lot of people are saying Game of Thrones no; they don’t want that, and they’re not going to settle for anything less than perfection.”

As for what fans can expect, the final season will likely have more content than Season 4, which had some episodes that ran longer than most movies. “I can assure you that you will not be disappointed, and I can definitely assure you that you will have about the same amount, maybe a little more, of content than we did (in) Season 4,” Zimmerman said.

Season 5 is eight episodes long, so get ready to sit through what will essentially be eight movies!
