Nick Knowles reveals health update with fans as he shares first video from hospital after surgery after injury on Strictly

Nick Knowles has revealed he now has a ‘recovered bicep’ after surgery following injuries he sustained in Strictly Come Dancing rehearsals.

The DIY SOS star, 62, took to Twitter on Thursday and shared a video from her hospital bed where she told fans she has “two to three months” of physical therapy ahead of her.

He said: “I’ve just woken up from my shift. Everything went well by all accounts so now I’ve got a pulled bicep so a bit of physio over the next two or three months and I should be fine like rain and back to 100% I think.

“So it’s one down and one to go on the knee,” he added, captioning the video: “All done, thanks to Mr. Ahrens, the surgeon and all the medical staff.”

Nick and his professional dance partner Luba Mushtuk were forced to pull out of Film Week after the star injured his shoulder and knee.

Nick fell and injured his knee during a jump, leaving him on crutches and headed to the hospital for an MRI.

The TV presenter was well enough to return to Strictly, but his comeback was short-lived as he became the third celebrity eliminated on Sunday.

Nick and Luba lost the dance to Shayne Ward and Nancy Xu.

Both couples performed their routines again; Shayne and Nancy performed their Cha Cha to Ain’t No Love (Ain’t No Use) by Sub Sub feat. Melanie Williams.

Nick and Luba then performed their Charleston to Rain on the Roof from the movie Paddington 2.

However, despite narrowly returning to the competition while recovering from shoulder and knee injuries, Nick, 62, was sent home early by the four judges – Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood , Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke.

Asked by Tess about his time on the show, Nick said: “I’ve been really, really surprised by how much I’ve enjoyed doing it and two things that happen.”

He explained: “One is how much you care each week, and the other is how much you don’t want to let your partner down.

Nick said: He said: 'I just woke up from my shift. Everything went well by all accounts, so now I have a bicep picked up, some physio for the next two to three months.

“The only reason I was able to do this is simply because of Luba’s changes, he’s been amazing.”

Luba said: “I have never met anyone as determined as you, and I remember you saying that if you do your best, you will be very happy. I think you have done more than your best. Thank you.’

When Tess asked him about his partner Luba, Nick shared, “Luba has been amazing and has been so fabulous every day.

“And I should also thank all the background staff, the physios, all the people who got me through this week and all my fellow competitors who have been absolutely amazing and lovely people.

“There are some amazing dancers up there and I’m going to love watching the rest of the series.”

The remaining 12 couples will take to the dance floor next week when ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ returns on Saturday 19 October, with the results shown on Sunday 20 October on BBC One.

Both episodes from this weekend are now available to watch via BBC iPlayer.
