Industry reacts to motor government task force

The wider insurance market has given a mixed reaction to the government’s motor task force, with its industry-led approach questioned, but experts say it is a step forward.

The Government this morning announced a new intergovernmental car insurance task force, backed by industry experts, to tackle what it said is “spiraling car insurance costs “.

Transport Secretary Louise Haigh and Treasury Economic Secretary Tulip Siddiq will bring together industry groups and consumer advocates such as the Association of British Insurers, Citizens Advice, Which? and Compare the Market, and also insurance regulators, as part of the initiative.
