4-year-old girl raped and killed by uncle, police seek speedy trial

A four-year-old girl was allegedly raped and killed by her distant relative in a village in Andhra Pradesh’s Tirupati district, according to local police. The accused, identified as 24-year-old Nagaraju, is said to be the victim’s maternal uncle, Tirupati District Superintendent of Police (SP) L Subbarayudu said on Saturday.

SP Subbarayudu detailed that Nagaraju, who lives near the woman’s house and interacted with her frequently, lured her to a secluded area of ​​AM Puram village on Friday evening. According to officials, he lured her in with snacks before committing the murder.

“Nagaraju lives near the girl’s house and used to play with her every day. Yesterday (Friday) evening he took her to a shop and bought her some snacks. Later, he took her from her house and assaulted her sexually assaulted her and killed her”, SP Subbarayudu. he said, according to a report on PTI.

When her parents realized she was missing, they started searching and soon discovered that she was last seen with Nagaraju, he explained. After her parents reported her missing, the police filed a missing person case and detained Nagaraju for questioning. During questioning, he confessed to the crime, officials said.

Police conducted a search with Nagaraju, eventually locating the victim’s body near a government school around 9 pm on Friday. Authorities have booked Nagaraju under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO) and additional charges.

The Tirupati police said they will initiate a speedy trial to speed up justice for the victim. He said they would seek a fast-track court for fast-tracking the case.
