A gas leak sparks a fire in Ludhiana, injuring 7, including a child

LUDHIANA: A gas leak triggered to fire in Samrat Colony, Jaspercausing panic in a residential area on Tuesday night.
The fire has affected four rooms and left at least seven people injured, including a 7-year-old girl.
The incident occurred due to illegal recharging of LPG cylinders in an improvised workshop. Eyewitnesses said they heard screams from the affected house, prompting locals to rush to the scene.
Five people trying to rescue the family were also injured. The victims, including Shivani (7) and Phoolmati (35), were rushed to nearby hospitals.
Phoolmati’s husband Daroga Prasad said the workshop owner refilled small cylinders from larger ones in the adjacent room.
On the night of the incident, Phoolmati was cooking when gas started leaking from the workshop, causing a sudden fire.
Daroga Prasad’s family, including his wife, daughter and younger brother, Kripa Shankar, suffered severe burns.
Phoolmati’s condition is critical and she was referred to a specialized medical facility.
