Shocking new claims emerge about AFL stars’ schemes over Raygun and Diddy at Wacky Wednesday scandal party

Shocking new claims emerge about AFL stars’ schemes over Raygun and Diddy at Wacky Wednesday scandal party

  • Several GWS Giants players face sanctions, hefty fines
  • The post-season party was held in a pub’s private room

GWS Giants AFL stars brought in Olympic breakdancer Rachael ‘Raygun’ Gunn and disgraced rap star P. Diddy in a ‘Wacky Wednesday’ costume feature that has some players clashing to harsh punishments from the league, as reported.

Several of the club’s players face suspensions or hefty fines after the team and the AFL confirmed they are investigating what happened at the post-season function in a private pub room last month.

The scandal arose after an anonymous complaint was made about the ‘Wacky Wednesday’ party over the costumes worn by the players in the fancy dress events and the skits they performed on the night, which had a theme of celebrity couples.

Now it has been reported that one of the players who could be punished was wearing a Raygun, which became one of the biggest stories of the Paris Olympics.

Another star is in hot water after making a joke about Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, the American rap superstar who is in jail awaiting trial for sex trafficking.

Around six players are facing suspensions for the game, according to SEN Radio reporter Tom Morris.

He reported that Giants Isaac Cumming and James Peatling are not among the players facing disciplinary action, and that the club’s stars believe the story came out when the pub barman complained, although claims that nothing illegal has happened.

“One young player in particular, who is said to have made an ill-informed joke about P. Diddy, is set for the harshest suspension,” Morris said Monday.

“A couple of players did a parody of a movie, a player who will be fined quite significantly dressed as a Raygun.

“I can’t imagine this player getting fined for wearing Raygun, but who knows what actions this player took.”

Morris said the club became aware of the scandal weeks ago, with some of the stars finding out a weekend before the AFL grand final.

“I’m told some of the players are taking the suspensions forward, believing it’s a private room, nothing illegal happened. The AFL and the Integrity Unit have had time to consider it, digest it and investigate it’, he said.

“Given that around six players are expected to be suspended and fined up to $20,000, you’d have to suggest there’s more going on.”

The league and the Giants have confirmed they are investigating what happened at the event last month, days after their season ended with a semi-final loss to premier Brisbane.

“The AFL and GWS have conducted an investigation into the Giants players’ post-season event, which is in its final stages,” the league said in a statement.

The AFL and the Giants have not confirmed what prompted the investigation, or what action the league might take.

GWS released a statement on Tuesday afternoon, saying: “The Giants are aware of an anonymous allegation of inappropriate behavior at the players’ end-of-season function last month.

“The club and its integrity unit have been working with the AFL’s integrity unit to investigate.”
