FAIRFIELD COUNTY, SC (WOLO)– Fairfield County Deputies arrested a woman in connection with a case of credit card fraud, the sheriff’s office said.

On Oct. 16, several Winnsboro residents were reporting unauthorized credit card charges involving CVS.

Fairfield County deputies identified CVS employee Shy’Lexis Coleman as being involved in the incident.

Investigators say they saw surveillance footage that showed Coleman discreetly taking pictures of the victims’ ID cards.

When she was arrested, Coleman admitted to having several pictures of other credit cards on her phone.

Deputies believe others may be involved and continue the ongoing investigation.

People are encouraged to review their statements regularly and report any suspicious activity immediately.

The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind residents of important steps to protect your financial information:

1. Keep your card visible: Be careful when handing over your credit or debit card. If possible, keep it in sight during transactions.
2. Track suspicious behavior: Take note if someone appears to be tampering with your card out of your view or near their personal devices.
3. Monitor transactions regularly: Check your bank statements and set up alerts to quickly spot any unauthorized charges.
4. Report suspicious activity: If you notice any unauthorized transactions, contact your card issuer immediately and report it to your local authorities.
By remaining vigilant, you can protect yourself from fraud. A little caution goes a long way
