Couple left ‘in tears’ after Ryanair charges £90 for ‘horrible’ mistake | Travel News | to travel

Going abroad can be quite stressful to get from A to B and one couple found out the hard way after flying from Malta to London with Ryanair. The anonymous couple shared their story on social media platform Reddit.

In a post titled: “Ryan Air Nonsense,” the user slammed the budget airline for a simple mishap.

The post read: “Hey everyone, sorry if this comes off as rambling, but I’m raging at the moment.

“At Malta airport and trying to check in for our flight back to London. The clerk shyly writes on a piece of paper and sends us to another desk.

“Now; this bit is important: when we’ve crossed the hall to the other desk and peeked for two minutes…we’ve passed the ‘check two hours before takeoff’ threshold

“We were then told we have to pay €110 for the pleasure of ‘late check-in’. We tried to be calm, they gave us a number to call, this number was Ryan Air and all I got was ‘sorry ‘.that happened, but there are other people in line, so you have to pay.

“The woman behind the desk offered no help, there was no superior available. Nothing. €110 (£90) down for a two minute threshold that wasn’t our fault and is bureaucratic nonsense. We didn’t check in 10. minutes before our flight…it was two hours early.

“I want to complain, but I feel like it will be like drawing blood from a stone?”

People took to the post to share their advice, with one person commenting: “Yes, this is how they make money. Similar experience with Ryanair when checking in…”

Another said: “Wtf this is so bullshit, I’d complain if I were you. I’m flying with them for the first time in a few days.”

To which the thread creator replied: “CHECK.IN.ASAP”

A third added: “They don’t give a shit. honest feedback, they take your money and make it hard to get it back no matter what,” to which the user replied: “It’s really awful.”

Another traveler had a similar experience and said: “Feel your pain. I flew with RA recently. Had to change twice, no problem. But had to pay for baggage twice more. Because the ‘application will not advance to the next screen without paying the bags.

“No way. Even the AR at the gate said we paid for six bags when we only had two. I asked for a refund and his tone immediately changed, sorry, no refunds. Call RA. Ryan Air’s policies and customer service are criminal, I don’t know how they get away with their operation.”

According to the Ryanair website, it says: “You must check in online at www.ryanair.com and print or download your boarding pass unless you have a Flexi Plus ticket, in which case you can check in at the airport as free. Online check-in opens 60 days before the scheduled departure time if you have purchased an assigned seat.”
