Penn Yan man accused of assault faces felony count after fleeing scene of domestic incident

A Penn Yan man is facing multiple charges, including first-degree criminal contempt and aggravated domestic battery, after he allegedly violated a protective order and assaulted a person, according to Penn Yan police.

On October 25 at approximately 3:13 pm, officers arrested Jeffery A. McClain, 36, following a reported domestic dispute in the village. Police say McClain hit the victim in the face with a cell phone during an argument, despite an active protective order against him.

McClain had left the scene before police arrived, but was later located, taken into custody and transported to the Yates County Jail. He is now awaiting arraignment on charges of first-degree criminal contempt, aggravated domestic battery and second-degree harassment.
